About the Lagniappe Dulcimer Society

The Lagniappe Dulcimer Society is an organization of dulcimer enthusiasts in the greater Baton Rouge area. We meet weekly to jam with the dulcimer, learn new music and plan activities.

Here’s the official club page:  http://www.lagniappedulcimerbr.org/

Our primary activity is to learn and play the mountain dulcimer. We give performances to many local organizations including church groups, civic organizations, schools and retirement centers. We meet twice a month to jam at the farmer’s market in downtown Baton Rouge.

We host an annual dulcimer festival of workshops, performances, jams in March each year.

This blog is made by Maylee Samuels as a way to promote our club and provide interesting information about the dulcimer. It is my own blog; and is independent of the Lagniappe Dulcimer Society.

    • Hello Renee,
The Bayou Dulcimer Club is an active dulcimer group that is located in the Mandeville/Covington area. They meet on Thursday’s and have some very experienced dulcimer players; one that performs on both mountain and hammered dulcimer. The group welcomes new members. A contact person is Liz Perilloux and she can give you leads for lessons. Her E-mail is bingnliz@bellsouth.net Hope you can connect with the group. We also give beginner lessons at our Fete next March 10 – 12. You will listen to some great dulcimer players.
