Learn to Play the Dulcimer Classes

Free classes for beginning dulcimer players will begin in January 2026 at the Fairwood Branch Library, Baton Rouge. We will have two sessions — one on Monday nites and one on Thursdays at noon. If you’d like to learn how to play the dulcimer; come joine us. Pre-registration required to reserve a student dulcimer for the classes. Exact dates and times coming soon.

Weekly Dulcimer Meetings

The club is taking a break for the Christmas holiday — and will resume meeting for weekly jams in 2026. Check back later for location, dates and times.

The club also meets at the EBR Fairwood Library on Thursdays from 10:30 am to noon. Christmas break for this group is coming soon, too.

Cajun Dulcimer Jam

Joe’s group no longer jams at the Acadian Cultural Center (501 Fisher Road, Lafayette, Louisiana) which is part of the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park. He’s taking a break from that location.

Joe’s group currently jams on Wednesdays in Opelousas at the St. Landry Visitor’s Center on I-49 at Exit 23. The jams are usually held from 10:00 am – 11:30 am. Again, check with Joe prior to heading out to make sure the jam is still on!!!
