Learn to Play the Dulcimer Classes

The mountain dulcimer is easy to learn and to play and offers unlimited hours of enjoyment. So many music styles can be played on the duclimer — bluegrass, gospel and folk plus a variety of techniques such as fingerpicking and chord backup.

We will offer classes on how to play the mountain after Martin Luther King day in 2027 at a local library. Keep checking back to hear the exact dates, times and locations.

Loaner dulcimers are available with advanced registration.

Thank you for your response. ✨

Disclaimer: It is important to note that the club does not meet if there is a scheduling conflict with the library (such as a voting weekend as the library is used as a ballot and voting location), other library conflicts or a club activity or conflict. To keep abreast of schedule changes, we suggest joining the dulcimer association to receive such notifications, Message us for details.

Cajun Dulcimer Jam

Joe’s group no longer jams at the Acadian Cultural Center (501 Fisher Road, Lafayette, Louisiana) which is part of the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park. He’s taking a break from that location.

Joe’s group currently jams on Wednesdays in Opelousas at the St. Landry Visitor’s Center on I-49 at Exit 23. The jams are usually held from 10:00 am – 11:30 am. Again, check with Joe prior to heading out to make sure the jam is still on!!!
